Report: A’s talking multiple player deal including Jeff Samardjzija

In the wake of the Boston Red Sox signing of Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez, Boston has a few too many players on their roster. They want to trade at least a few of them to get some pitching in return. In the last 10 minutes or so a report has just come out explaining that the A’s are in talks of trading one of their star pitchers Jeff Samardjzija. The other club whom the A’s would be trading Samardjzija to has not been revealed and if I had to take one guess it would be Boston. As I said Boston has too many players on the roster and want a pitcher in return because Jon Lester might not re-sign with Boston. At the trade deadline in 2014, the A’s traded Yoenis Cespedes to the Red Sox in exchange for Jon Lester in hopes of making it all the way to the World Series. Now since Boston signed all those players Cespedes is trade bait and since Boston needs a starting pitcher I could the A’s trading Samardjzija to the Red Sox in exchange for Cespedes so he would go back to Oakland. More details to come.

UPDATE 8:05pmEST: The A’s are discussing a major trade but it does NOT involve Samardjzija per Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

FINAL UPDATE: 8:55pmEST: The news has officially broke, and in somewhat shocking turn of events the A’s have traded their star third baseman Josh Donaldson to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Brett Lawrie and other prospects. This is shocking because Donaldson was one of the A’s best hitters of 2014.
